PALMER PETROLEUM PTY LTD V BGP GEOEXPLORER PTE LTD [2016] QSC 33

GRT Lawyers successfully resisted an application brought by Palmer Petroleum to set aside a statutory demand before the Supreme Court of Queensland.  The bid to set aside a demand for US$16.726 million owing to a Singapore-based exploration company was an excellent result given the very low threshold that typically applies to this type of application.

GRT managed the Australian side of the litigation, working with Drew & Napier LLP of Singapore.

Ashley Hill, Head of Litigation said “Our cross-border capability could not have been better demonstrated.  We were working with Drew & Napier, for a Singaporean subsidiary of a Chinese state owned enterprise.  We successfully managed the matter and achieved a remarkable result for this type of action.”
